3 Ways To Lower Your Windshield Repair Costs

Blog

If you have a crack in your windshield, there are a few things you can do to lower the windshield repair costs.

#1 Address It Right Away

The easiest way to keep your windshield repair costs in check is to fix your windshield right away. As soon as you see a crack or even a little tiny ding develop on your windshield, take it in and get it fixed. The longer you wait, the more likely it is that the crack will spread, especially during the winter months. If water gets into the crack, it can freeze and expand. This will cause the crack to expand and will cause further damage to your windshield. If your windshield is too damaged, you may have to consider windshield replacement.

#2 Obtain Several Quotes

Next, before you go in and get your windshield repaired, call up a few different windshield repair companies in your area. Describe the damage to them, or send them a picture of the damage. You will also need to provide them with the make and model of your vehicle as well.

From there, you should be able to quickly get quotes. Be sure to compare not just the price, but how long it will take for them to repair your windshield. You may also want to take into consideration if they will come to you to change your windshield or if you will have to come to them.

#3 Talk To Your Insurance Company

Finally, you need to talk to your insurance company. Many insurance companies offer windshield repair coverage. Putting in a windshield repair claim will not affect your driving record and should not affect your insurance rate.

Depending on the type of coverage you have, your insurance company may cover the entire cost of having your windshield replaced. They may even have particular companies that they contract with that will come to you and fix your windshield on the spot for you. It always pays to call them beforehand and check and see if your windshield will be covered.

If you have a crack in your windshield and you want to save money on the repair, it is vital that you take care of the repair as soon as possible. The bigger the crack gets, the more it is going to cost you to take are of it. Be sure to compare costs and to talk to your insurance company; your insurance company may cover the entire cost of fixing your windshield.

Driving a New Vehicle Style Was Easier Than I Expected

I drove small compact cars for over a decade. After I got married and had children, I began to realize that we could use more room than we had in my small car. I was considering buying an SUV or a small van, but I hesitated on making the change for quite a while due to thinking that it would be very difficult for me to learn to drive a new automobile style! Finally, I got up the nerve to test drive an SUV at a local dealership, and I was shocked at how easy it was to drive! I felt a little higher in the air, and that was the only difference. I decided to start a blog to share my story with other people afraid to switch vehicle styles and share other auto tips I have learned! I hope I can help you!
